Image Stabilization (EIS&OIS) :- Tech Explained

We Take many photos & Videos daily .While our hands are not always steady & we end up taking many blury photos.Which results in we taking up many shots. So the solution to this problem comes in the form of Image stabilization.Image stabilization is used in our day to day life with its implementation in our smartphones. There are three implementation of image stabilization.Using these implementations we get a stabilized video footage or a stable good quality photo even under low light. In this article i am going to explain these implementations.

The first implementation is OIS

1)OIS:-OIS stands for Optical Image Stabilization. OIS is a hardware based solution that comes with the phone. So basically whenever our phone moves or experiences a jerk the phone's camera module moves itself in the opposite direction to compensate the jerk. This physical or mechanical movement results into a smother video or a stable photo. This mechanism is found in various high end premium phones.

2)EIS:- EIS stands for electronic image stabilization .It is a software based solution that are offered with the help of various software based algorithms. In EIS basically the video footage is cropped for enhanced with the help of various software based tools that sharpen & brighten the image or video. This results into a smother video without jerks as the shakky part is either cropped or enhanced with software tools.EIS can be found on MID-range phones as well as high end phones. As it is software based it can be pushed via OTA update as well.

3) Hybrid solution:- In Hybrid Solution which is available only in premium smartphones has Both system working together that is EIS & OIS working together to produce a very stable & smooth image or video. This solution is currently available only in few smartphones.
